Going Beyond

The BORN AGAIN Truck has aspirations that go far beyond what you have read thus far. If the secular or mundane side of life is all that could be affected by this truck, then all of our efforts would be in vain. The real worth of a project is measured in terms of eternal significance, not popularity or monetary abundance. The culture of America is infused and enthused with the automobile. But before we condemn the auto, we should consider its significance in our daily lives. The auto has become not only commonplace in our society, but a necessity for anyone who wishes to be a part of modern day America. This dependence and enthusiasm is good news for the B A Truck; for it permits the truck to draw crowds from many segments of society. Many would say that the auto is a distraction to mankind, for every weekend a car show or auto race is taking place somewhere in the United States. If not one of these, then a swap meet or racers show is surely to be found. Because many people work on Saturday, Sunday is frequently given to the automobile. This distraction, via the auto, is transformed into an attraction with the B A Truck. The story of this truck runs parallel to the life of man. As man is born only to die at some point, so was this truck. The truck was destined for death and destruction, yet a miraculous thing happened which led to the restoration of this old auto, not only restoration but an accompaniment of greater power and influence in this world. This is certainly parallel to the position of mankind, for we are born into this world with the certainty of death, yet Jesus Christ, through HIS death, created the miraculous path to a new and everlasting life. The message the B A Truck is simple; the new life, available to all who request of the LORD, is superior to the original. The ways in which the BORN AGAIN Truck can be used by a church or other sacred organization are many, allow me to illustrate a few of them.

The most obvious is that of evangelism. A car show sponsored by a Christian church, with an emphasis on drawing unsaved friends of the congregation and neighbors in the community, would make an excellent example. This same theme would be beneficial for a Christian youth group.

An illustration of sanctification, for once the decision of restoration was made; the process took a considerable amount of time. Along this same theme is the fact that as time goes on, the B A Truck will receive even more upgrades. The sanctification process continues.

My favorite illustration, provided by the truck, is a personal observation. The truck is a beautiful glistening white on the outside yet the inside is a dull black (look at the pictures, it’s obvious and intentional). The perfect picture of the self-righteous. Many, believer and non-believer alike, try harder to look good on the outside while neglecting the inside. The need to be real and transparent is essential to being Christ-like.

Sacrifice was made on many levels to bring this truck to new life. The sacrifice to bring new life to those who believe was much greater and of cosmic consequence. Sacrifice and work = GODs plan to draw all men to HIM.

The paint scheme is a picture of light and darkness separated by red, representing the shed blood of Christ which brought light into the world. The original engine was a six cylinder, six the number of man, representing man’s limited, mortal life. The new engine is an eight cylinder which represents a new beginning (Genesis chapter eight, a new beginning after the flood). This new engine has more than tenfold the power of its predecessor.

The options for illustrating Biblical truth are limitless with the B A Truck.  They have been placed in my heart along with the desire to affect as many as possible with the Gospel of Christ. Jesus said “Go into the entire world and preach the gospel” (Mark 16:15). We are commanded to take the Gospel to the people, even if they are at an automotive sporting event! This method of reaching the lost or edifying the saved may not be your call, but it surely is mine. This old truck has opened doors, allowing us to engage in conversation of eternal consequence with a multitude of people. The response from both un-saved and saved has been much greater than we had imagined. This project is not driven by earthly power, but rather by obedience to the LORD JESUS CHRIST.

The Born Again Truck has a 14 page booklet describing its process of restoration, with human parallels (such as those previously mentioned). This booklet will be available wherever the truck is displayed or exhibited.

The Born Again Truck is owned and operated by Prophetic Studies Institute a 501(c3) ministry.
